Audio presets for Chrome and Edge

A preset adjusts EQ, gain and dynamics together. Explore Hearably’s six built-in presets and their actual defaults. Choose for the problem you hear, then compare the same passage before and after the change.

For supported desktop browser tabs. These are starting points, not calibrated device profiles or universally best settings. The values describe the extension; Studio has its own presets.

Six presets, with the settings explained

Music, Bass Boost and Vocal are included in Free. Free caps gain at 120% and provides three manual EQ controls; its built-in presets use their predefined curves. Cinema, Gaming, Late Night, custom and community presets require Pro. See plan details

Music

Compare with familiar music recordings.

Raises 62 Hz by 3 dB and 8 kHz by 2 dB, with gentle compression and 120% stereo width.

If the recording already has strong bass, compare with flat EQ first.

Bass Boost

Try a deliberately stronger low-frequency balance.

Raises 31 Hz by 8 dB, 62 Hz by 6 dB and 125 Hz by 4 dB.

This is a substantial boost. Reset if you hear rattling or roughness; it cannot extend a small speaker’s physical bass response.

Vocal

Compare voices within an existing mix.

Raises 2 kHz by 4 dB and 4 kHz by 3 dB, and narrows stereo width to 80%.

Also changes instruments in those regions. It does not isolate voices or guarantee better intelligibility.

Cinema

Compare films and series playing in your browser.

Includes a 4 dB lift at 62 Hz, compression and 150% stereo width.

For quiet dialogue, check the audio track and dialogue options first. More bass and width may work against that goal.

Gaming

Compare games and gameplay videos in supported browser tabs.

Emphasizes 2–8 kHz and uses a 6:1 compressor ratio.

Not a universal game curve or a guarantee of better footstep positioning. Native PC games are outside the extension’s scope.

Late Night

Compare stronger compression with reduced bass.

Cuts 31 and 62 Hz by 4 dB, uses an 8:1 ratio and sets the limiter ceiling to −1 dBFS.

May audibly pump or change detail. This preset is separate from the Pro Night Mode switch.

Reference reviewed October 6, 2026. The numeric tables are generated from the extension’s factory defaults. This is a settings reference, not a listening test or compatibility certification. A limiter cannot remove distortion already in the source or certify your listening level.

Choose a preset and make a useful comparison

  1. Check the player, audio track and output device. Start at a low, comfortable system volume with a short, familiar passage.
  2. Open Hearably on the playing tab and enable processing. Select an available preset inside the extension; this website does not apply settings to your tabs.
  3. Replay the same passage. Lower the louder version to a similar perceived level so added volume does not decide the comparison.
  4. Check a second passage. Keep the preset only if it helps your specific problem. Turn processing off to compare the original; if playback stays silent, reload the tab.

No preset picker yet? In Free, the gradual onboarding shows it after 3 popup openings. Pro shows it immediately. Managed browsers can impose additional feature and gain limits.

The linked listening example compares original synthetic signals. It does not reproduce these six presets or the extension’s full processing chain.
